value of items? and what to do with them?
Forgive me if this question has been answered in the forums, I have spent lots of time and have not found the answers.
I am new to guildwarsguru and an inexperienced guild wars player I read all over the forums that players collecting items from drops know the high values of these items. Such as in farming forums they explain items, runes, upgrades, greens, golds whatever drops and they state they're worth 1k or 2k gold or any amount. I have 2 questions: 1. how do they know the values to these and ANY items? Is it through guildwarsguru.com/auctions or another auction site or is it through in-game vendors or is it through the price check forum on this website? Why I ask is because I want to know if something I recieve is of high value and I dont sell it to a vendor for 25g when I could sell it for 2k gold. 2. If I do recieve a decent drop, what is the BEST way to sell it? through guildwarsguru.com/auctions or vendor or in-game chat or how? again, forgive me if this has already been answered. ANY feedback regarding these questions is appreciated! |

welcome!
even though i dun consider join date: dec 2007 exactly new 0__o lol 1. jus gotta know the market though, runes/insignias/dyes/mats r very easy to tell because u can check the npc trader the value of the item will sell more than wut u can sell it to the npc for...but less than wut u can buy it from the npc for greens go by rarity in how hard it is to obtain the green (generally most r not hard to get), its "coolness" factor (aka the skin), and to a very small degree, its stats golds work very much the same way...rarity and skin, and generally the most important stat decider is the requirement (assuming its inscribable) but in general, golds > greens i think theres a 'which weapons r rare skins' in the price check forum (badly paraphrased, but it shouldnt be too hard to find) in general, mostly only req9 weapons will sell decently if its a rare or wanted skin, any req from 9-13 can sell 2. i prefer forums...but all of the above really sitting around in spamadan also gives u the chance to watch and learn the market from personal experience, i used to trade a lot back in the day if u do plan on checkin out spamadan... u'll find that it -is- time consuming, and in itself a whole other aspect of the game that will take time away from playing after a while, i eventually jus relied on guru forums cuz i couldnt be bothered to spend time (power)trading one last tip: go to interface options, and increase the size of u chat window (as tall as it can get) hope this helps! ^__^ |

1. The only items that are worth anything are: obsidian edge, crystalline sword, emerald blade, bone dragon staff, celestial compass, voltaic spear, tormented shield, frog scepter, draconic aegis (all other 100k+++ items that everyone and their mother has), and everlasting tonics. Anything else you'll have an extremely difficult time selling, and spend hours spamming. Maybe there's some items in between worth about 50k like pyroclastic axes and magmas shields. Either merch it, use it, or put it on a mule and wait patiently for you to spot someone who wants to buy it.
2. The only "good" drops are listed above and will sell ridiculously fast in kamadan. Guru auctions are slow as balls and are only good for selling fiery bow strings and white salvageable armors. No, really, go look. |

2 things....
1) To make money doing this you gotta have money to start out with if you are going to buy low and sell high. This can take a huge investment, a lot of time, patience, and luck. 2) This is a lot harder to do nowadays with the market as stale as it is. Back when items were rarer and there was still new items (the SF greens, the very first minis, etc) appearing in the market it was a bit easier to turn a profit. You really have to take your time and know what you are doing to powertrade now. |

if it is only worth 2k gold you are better off merching for 25 instead of wasting time.

2. If you are looking for a fast, little underprized sale, sell ingame. If you got lots of stuff or a high end item, sell it on forums. |

Hi, I've been playing just over a year and still suck at pricing, I usually google the items name or ask guildies for a quick fix nowadays, or you can post here in the price check section. GL

That's not necessarily true. If you have a whole bunch of things worth 2k, sell them here on guru. You have a better chance of selling them since this is one of the more popular places to buy and sell.
